Gamer (2009) - Gerard Butler. Michael C. Hall. Chris Bridges.
I THINK I'VE SHOVED THIS DOWN EVERYONE'S THROAT PRETTY WELL, but I will get the last of you stragglers. SOMEHOW. Gorgeous camerawork, sweet tangly plot, and suspense. The action scenes feel like an FPS and I think that's awesome. They put so much effort into the tiniest details and I AM FULL OF FEELINGS ABOUT IT. Also: Fucking Ludacris is in this movie.
Brick (2005) - Joseph Gordon Levitt.
Crime noir flick set in a modern(ish) high school setting. That's right. All the jaunty dialogue and larger than life characters crammed into a high school. MURDER, DRUGS, INTRIGUE, HUMOR WHO DUNNIT, ETC. It's wonderful.
RocknRolla (2008) - Gerard Butler. Tom Hardy. Mark Strong. Thandie Newton. Chris Bridges. I have nothing but good things to say about this movie. JUST LOOK AT THAT CAST LIST. Every character is multi-faceted, the soundtrack is phenomenal, and it's alternately thrilling and hilarious. I've seen it over a dozen times in the past year. PLUS: LUDACRIS IS ALSO IN THIS MOVIE. He and Gerard Butler are like... bros or something. FUCKIN BROS.
Breakfast on Pluto (2005) - Liam Neeson. Cillian Murphy
I dare anyone to watch this movie and not fall in love. Cillian plays a transgendered woman trying to make her way in the world in the seventies. Takes place in Ireland and Britain during turbulent fucking times with the IRA and the bombings and shit. Once again, the dialogue and soundtrack captured my fuckin' heart. BAD DECISIONS, GOOD DECISIONS, LONGING, LOVE, LOSS. good gawd, ya'll. This one is a must-see.
